About Me
Born1962 in Moolman, Mpumalanga, South Africa, to German speaking parents. Raised in this country side community is worthy of a book some day.  My German ancestry is still very much a part of who I am.  I speak German, English, Afrikaans, Zulu and a little Swedish.  During a seven year sabbatical I lived and worked in Australia, Thailand, Maldives and Zanzibar as a Scuba Instructor. We also visited many other countries in between jobs.
In 2002 I married my Viking Love of my Life on a deserted beach in Zanzibar. When we were gifted the privilege of becoming parents, we settled down in Ermelo to raise our daughter in 2004.  Personal Development and Psychology have always been my interest/passion and I had already completed many courses and training by then.  Life in Ermelo presented me with the time and opportunity to continue my training and qualifications to realize a dream of working in this field.  During this time I discovered and cultivated my gift for writing by means of a weekly inspirational column in a local newspaper which turned into a published collection in 2014.  "A Path of Choices"  (see link on Google) or find the link on the website www.karindedekind-engman.com.  Currently I am writing a weekly article for the iNews.  (www.inews.co.za)
Qualifications:
NLP Life Coach (2009)  TRE Practitioner (2010)   Modern Applied Psychology

Working as a Life Coach/Therapist is a priviledge. I wake up every day looking forward to meet new clients or continue the process with individuals who are committed to learn new life skills, heal wounds - new and old - and find the joy of being alive again.  It gives me purpose and personal fulfillment and I am very grateful to have found my calling.

I work within all cultures and religions respectful of the clients beliefs and practices.

I truly understand how difficult it is to take the step to talk to a stranger about your inner most private feelings and thoughts.  Therapists also need therapists and therefore I speak from my own inner dialogue before I go for my regular session.  I have NEVER regretted pushing myself to NOT cancel my appointment.  We all need to talk to someone to get a non-invested perspective and re-balancing our 'tyres' so to speak.  There is no requirement of minimum number of sessions.  You determine what you need.  You choose the pace of intensity of the work you need.  There is no pressure - there is no judgement.  You are always in control.  The challenge is in the big question:  How honest are you willing to be with yourself?
I am bound by a code of confidentiality.  I would be honoured to hear your story - no judgment is my pledge to you!

Training and Approach

As a Life Coach/ Therapist I identify with many of my clients life situations and challenges.

New perspectives may bring a glimmer of hope to a person who has sunk into despair or is simply stuck.

Life Coaching is a talk therapy with a practical outcome approach. Therapy assumes the therapist is the expert.  Coaching is an equal partnership. Take control of your life by understanding yourself better. Find perspective - lighten the weight of what you have been carrying for so long.

Lack of balance in life through stress/pressure or life events affect all areas of our life.  Physical health, relationships, energy for living and a general  lack of joy or enthusiasm for life - apathy.

In life we experience many forms of pain.  Loss, grief, rejection, social isolation, lack of social acceptance all result in feelings of despair.  Lack of control in our economy, the lack of safety and general unpredictability are toxic stress factors that will impact our daily life.

It is a privilege to make a difference in a fellow human life and certainly gives my life purpose and personal fullfillment
