Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
Modern Applied Psychology
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Through Neuro-Linquistic Programming (NLP) we learn to understand our own 'programming'. We learn to understand who we are, because of where we come from that has contributed to the person we have become.  This programming stems from our current or past living enviroment, past or current life experiences and life events.

My Diploma in Modern Applied Psychology and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy compliment the techniques of Neuro Linguistics perfectly.

By understanding who we are, we can choose to change or accept or grow as a person.

NLP aims to bring about lasting and constructive change.  It is a solution orientated as opposed to analyzing and dissecting a 'problem'.

In practice, NLP is a talk therapy that does not necessarily require all the small details of your life story.  It is essentially about recognizing the patterns that you run in your life that may not serve your best interest in finding happiness and success.

In 'therapy' you will learn to make better choices, have healthier relationships and learn to communicate effectively.

Acquiring new tools for anger management, fear and stress, release shock or trauma and work through grief.

Finding Balance in Life gives you the space to direct your energy to where you choose to invest yourself as a whole person.

Some of the principles of Neuro-Linguistics:

* People are not their behaviour

* People already possess everything they need to succeed

* Success of communication is based on the response you get

* Change your mind and therefore change your life

WE ALL HAVE A STORY

* How do you tell your story?

* We all have a history - what cards have you been dealt in life

* Do you often feel depleted and tired

* How healthy are your relationships

History of NLP

How Did Neuro-Linguistic Programming Begin?

In the late 1960s Richard Bandler was a computer science undergraduate at the University of California with an interest in psychotherapy. He noticed how ineffective most therapists were, but noticed that there were a few who got results. These were Virginia Satir and Fritz Perls. He and colleague John Grinder closely studied them, and realised that the supposed "intuition" both used in their work had a structure. From this study of the conscious and unconscious behaviour of the therapist Neuro-Linguistic Programming grew.

Later, Bandler and Grinder studied the hypnotist Milton H Erickson. Combining his approach with that of Satir and Perls produced a highly effective therapeutic model - which was the first fruit of the fledgling Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

Is Neuro-Linguistic Programming a "therapy"?

Dr Bandler often distinguishes between Neuro-Linguistic Programming and therapy by defining Neuro-Linguistic Programming as an educational process which can be used to do the things that psychotherapy so rarely manages: to bring about lasting and constructive change. Neuro-Linguistic Programming differs from most therapies in that it is solutions-oriented. It is not interested in analysing and dissecting a "problem", but rather focuses on finding satisfactory outcomes for clients.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming is used in many, many more situations which are not therapeutic in nature. For example, top sportsmen and sportswomen use Neuro-Linguistic Programming techniques to enhance sporting performance, and businessmen and businesswomen do the same. Neuro-Linguistic Programming has thus moved far beyond its original focus in the early 1970s to encompass a "general study of excellence".

The Principles of Neuro-Linguistic Programming

Neuro-Linguistic Programming is based on several principles.

Firstly, NLP argues that people are not their behaviour and that when you accept the person, you are free to change behaviour.
Secondly, Neuro-Linguistic Programming states that people already possess everything they need to succeed and to achieve their outcomes and that they simply need to learn how to unlock them.
Thirdly, Neuro-Linguistic Programming is based on the notion that the success of communication is based on the response you get. As you learn to communicate better, the world will respond to you better than before.
Finally, Neuro-Linguistic Programming is rooted in the principle that you are in charge of your mind, and therefore your life.
