What and how we feed our minds is our choice and our responsibility from the time when we are allowed to make our own choices within the family dynamic. Focusing on negative thoughts and elevating those into an actual belief systems – ‘this is how the world is and people are’ – will determine the quality of your life, the life partner you choose, how you raise your own children and your mental health as you grow old.
To categorize the loss of healthy brain function and consequent behaviour as ‘evil having infiltrated the mind’ is an over simplification in my view….. (with respect). The lack of research and understanding of the science of the mind is largely at fault – scientist have not even agreed on the classification of what is a psychological mental illness or a physiological brain illness.
Neurological filters that deteriorate or even ‘die’ as we age, certainly play a part in behaviour and general mental health.
Mental health in general is vastly underestimated especially in our youth.
What causes a person to develop brain disease or cause mental health issues, is still not being given the deserved attention in medical studies and research. As our brains are unique and the function in: development – maturing - aging are determined by so many factors. Childhood trauma, neglect, abuse (physical/mental/emotional/spiritual) and also the life partners we choose, remains vastly unchartered territory.
A nurtured childhood is the ‘fertile soil preparation’ of a healthy mind. The ultimate childhood is not getting it all right or providing everything and being the perfect parent. The most important certainty a child needs is to know without a doubt is that: “I AM CHERISHED”. Having all our LOVE needs met as a child is rare. The challenge is to overcome your past and choose who you want to be as a person despite your story.
