CHERRY BLOSSOMS
With the Road Rage incident still reverberating in my mind, I choose to shift my focus this week on an annual event of breath taking beauty. The tourist attraction of the Cherry trees flowering in April in Japan.
There are many cultural customs that encourage and facilitate practicing mindfulness. Stilling the mind and open the flow of peace and tranquility within.
The Japanese Cherry Blossom Tea Ceremony is a beautiful example. We have all seen the photos of the magnificence of Cherry trees flowering in the Spring.
This Tea Ceremony represents and symbolizes “The Last Cup of Tea”. During the ceremony participants are guided through visualizing their life one sip at a time until you get to the very last sip of tea. The intention is to bring harmony to the very moment and place you are at now.
During the sipping and contemplation in silence, we are to bring respect and empathy and joy and gratitude for all that we have already lived.
WABI SABI (Japanese) the beauty and appreciation of things imperfect, impermanent and incomplete. Accepting the flow of life in its simplicity.
Sip each moment of your life with an acceptance that it is not in your control, yet nurture and cultivate the feeling of anticipation of what is still to come.
