We can change our biology/health by what we think and what we feel.

The concept according to Dr Deepak Chopra is that we have a THINKING body.

With every thought the body produces a chemical that is absorbed by the receptors in our bodies. Our immune system has receptors that ‘eavesdrop’ on our internal dialogue/thoughts. We can therefore consciously learn how to change our thoughts so that we can regulate the chemical releases that occur with the thoughts that cause emotions. In other words: to be aware of our thoughts is to practice brain chemistry.

We are all well aware of how we feel when we are in a good or happy space versus how we feel when we are angry or irritated. Thoughts are the primary factor that produce feel good chemical releases that strengthen our immune systems or acidic and toxic releases that cause a spectrum of illnesses.

The demonstration of this truth is the interesting research and analyses of tears of laughter and tears of sorrow that are actually chemically different.

The light bulb and wakeup call is to understanding that the mind does not know the difference between imagined experiences or actual experiences – the brain produces and releases the same hormones and chemicals regardless. Hence the concept of the power of thought.

Research shows: Anger causes inflammatory diseases - depression and guilt and fear are all linked with cancer and auto immune diseases. (Generalized)

The emotions we experience fall into two categories: Pain or Pleasure also referred to a Suffering or Joy.

To experience pain/emotional suffering is a normal everyday occurrence. The mind shift required is to feel it and not to resist or avoid it, but to acknowledge the actual feeling and make conscious choices of what you can do about it.

Awareness of our thoughts and inner dialogue is the first step.
