Many of us are yearning for that feeling of calmness and safety. After the last two years of uncertainty, there may be days when we may feel like a rudderless boat on a rough ocean searching for a safe port to pull into for sustenance and rest.

In times when we feel more and more out of control it is time to re-assess our daily attitude to what actually is within our control.

This is what ‘mindfulness’ means to me. It is the space where I am able to notice what is around me as my day unfolds. This awareness is the source of the joy that bubbles up from my soul and spills over into the energy I carry and bring to everyone I encounter.

Practicing Stillness and going into the space where my body and my soul can ‘rest’ is the only way to come back to ourselves from a place of overwhelm. Overwhelm is an expression used by the many people today. What it really stems from is that the external pace of our world moves at a faster pace than what our psyche is able to process emotionally and mentally.

Finding acceptance of our reality does not mean giving up on pursuing dreams. It means being ok with where I am now and being comfortable in my own skin. This frees up a lot of energy that is spent on feeling ‘out of sorts’ or not ok because we either live in the past or already stress about the future that has not or may never actually happen.

Sometimes you have to let go of the picture of what you thought life would be like and learn to find the joy in the life that you are actually living.

A daily practice of meditation/quiet time (even if it is only 5 minutes) as a discipline is a requirement for Mindful living. The decision to commit the gift of this time to myself does not dictate the HOW and certainly does not require adopting or believing a specific religious view point. Learning this meditation technique is very simply and easy. (make your appointment today) Meditation enhances your faith and the connection to the creator and to my authentic self.

In prayer we talk to God in meditation we listen. It is the listening that reconnects us to our creator – to our inner being (who we are) – and grounds us to mother earth so that we can be present in the here and now.

“If we’re not calm, we can’t listen deeply and understand. But when our mind is calm, we can see reality more clearly, like still water reflecting the trees, the clouds and the blue sky. Stillness is the foundation of understanding and insight” Thich Nhat Hanh

As the end of 2021 draws closer I would like to give thanks to you the reader of my weekly articles. It is for you that I feel a purpose to put in the effort and time in to express my thoughts to perhaps motivate someone who may especially need to hear just these words. It is my privilege.

Season’s Greetings to you – Be safe – until 2022.
