The ancient cultures lived closely connected to the rhythm of nature and with awareness and responsibility to the earths’ environmental health and balances. They believed this reflected the health of its people as a society and as individuals. Industrialization and growth in populations changed all that and moved away from the earth ways, to the pursuit of greed.
Modern society separates spiritual health, physical health as well as emotional and mental health instead of looking at the whole person. The environmental as well as the majority of the human race is sliding into ‘suffering’ and not thriving. So many people are in ‘trouble’ with physical health, emotional and mental health issues – our environment is under threat - presenting the perfect breeding conditions for a ‘pandemic’.
We are required to participate in life in an awake state instead of numbing ourselves to cope. We are responsible for ourselves and our health on all levels. If we ignore the signals that our physical bodies send us as a warning and indicator of imbalance, we will pay the price eventually.
Choices that turn out to be mistakes make us uncomfortable or even ashamed. Yet, it is important to own the choices instead of blaming others. Our life road map may take us on a few detours and through some rough terrain. Have you ever thought that you are on the wrong path? This is not so – you are always moving in the right direction – forward – you may have just taken a detour.
There are emerging hopeful models of countries in the world today who are being governed with the approach of the greater good for all. Schooling systems are being changed and people are educated with awareness of the health of the person as a whole and the responsibility towards society and the environment.
Life is like a giant classroom. God’s earth school. We have the freedom of choice and the freedom to make mistakes, learn the lessons and grow as a person.
The challenge is to have no judgements, no expectations (entitlement), to give up needing to know what will happen tomorrow and trying to control everything. We need to focus on today. Simply be the best human being you can be today!
