The Weight of Fear

We are all afraid of feeling pain – physically - emotionally – mentally - spiritually.
The human spirit however is incredibly resilient. Every person has gone to bed with fear or disappointment or grief and yet we wake up to a new day and are able to pick our-selves up – get dressed and show up – look people in the eyes and say; ‘good morning’ despite that we are in pain.
This is who we are; WE SURVIVE. We must strive to not only survive but to do even better than that – TO THRIVE. This is only possible when we can look at our situation with compassion and with humour and not ourselves so seriously.
Spiritual fear on the other hand can be a torture chamber. The fear of the devil. The fear of eternal condemnation. The fear of who or what I did or was in my past. Will I be going to hell as I am told to believe that I am not worthy of heaven as I have ‘sinned’ and therefore will not be ‘saved’ unless I accept or abide by religious requirements.
Indeed ‘sinful’ is NOT a family dessert!
Let us not focus on the dark and depraved as there is no doubt about this, but bring compassion to our humanness to be weak at times. I believe sin is the act of hurting another living being with intention. Another view point that makes sense on a really simple concept is that we sin when we have our LOVES out of order.
Family/Status/Money/Truth What is your hierarchy?
Our love for family should be higher than our love for money – if we love money more than family - we have our loves out of order
Our love for truth should be higher than our status in a community or business – for example if we lie in order to climb the ladder – we have our loves out of order
If a friend tells you a secret and you blab it at a dinner party - you are valuing popularity above friendship – you have your loves out of order
You can self-evaluate your LOVES ORDER by the time you spend on each value.
When life is no longer making sense and it feels like I have lost my way it might be time to re-evaluate and bring your LOVE HOUSE in order.
Every experience we have in life is to teach us how to live with LOVE instead of FEAR.
